The walk was down Washbridge into Scarning and along Rushmeadow Road, and so into the meadows. After two years of planning to go through here but having to divert to the top of the ridge behind Humbletoft because of the extreme muddiness of the streamside path, this time the frost was our friend and kept the surface more than passable. So we had a pleasant route along the boardwalk and through the woods, eventually climbing out onto Sandy Lane. From here, we followed the roads to Quebec Wood and generally east until we reached Northall Green Road. From there, it was down Cemetery Road and back through the town to our seasonal refreshments, partaken by the majority of our 23 walkers (plus 4 dogs!).
