Our walk took us from Greenfields Road (by the windmill) out across the A47 and down Footpath 25 to reach the track from Dumpling Green. It is rare for this path not to have a couple of wet and muddy stretches, but after all the heat, it could muster only a single small puddle - almost the highlight of the walk!

We followed on towards Mattishall Road, to reach Restricted Byway 3, notorious for not being properly made across the field. On this occasion, the crop had been harvested, leaving us to walk through short stubble. This took us to another Byway, where we could watch the late stages of the early harvest.

All too soon, it was back over the A47 and welcome refreshments at the Windmill Café.
