A fine summer’s day, but with a very welcome breeze, saw our party set out along the south side of The Neatherd, diverting through Little Neatherd before rejoining Shillings Lane to reach Etling Green.

We followed the paths here to circumnavigate the common area, crossing and recrossing the old A47, before joining the restricted byway which brought us back along the northern edge of The Neatherd.

So, a very ‘common’ walk ended back at the start, where our generous hosts plied us with hot drinks and wonderful cakes, making a very satisfactory end to a pleasant afternoon.
